NEWS: Universal Orlando Granted State Money for Road Improvements for Epic Universal Theme Park

Ever wondered how the traffic in the International Drive tourist areas will be impacted once Universal Opened their 4th (3rd for those of us who won't count Volcano Bay) gate? Orlando Sentinel discovered the plans for an extension to Kirkman Road. This road already serves as the current properties' eastern border, has it's own I-4 interchange, and is currently under construction to better suite traffic. Kirkman road T-boned Sand Lake Rd.


The new plan will have the road continue through the north side of Epic Universe, through the property, and terminate on Universal Boulevard. This will provide much needed access for the new property. The new road will also create road frontage for new businesses and hotels to be constructed.

The money came from former Florida Governor, Rick Scott, as a $16 million "gift" to Orange County Florida as a grant for this road, known as the "Florida Job Growth Grant Fund."
